Former England midfielder Paul Ince sees Nemanja Matic as being able to play in the lone defensive midfield role, which will give the team more flexibility.
In the past, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used Fred and Scott McTominay as midfield pairs. It has always been criticized that the team doesn’t need two defensive midfielders, with Ince stating that Matic can stand in that position alone.
“It’s all about number 4, number 6, number 8. That’s it! Box-to-Box you play the game. You defend the back four and you go and try to score,” Ince told Genting Casino.
“I’m not sure how Fred and McTominay work. I know Ole will let them both play. But I’m not sure it will work together. And I would like to see Ole try something else there.”
“I think when you play in midfield you can play the way you want. You can play 3 people indoor. You can play one on the bottom two – two on the bottom one. There are many ways you can take it.”
“As long as the one who stands low knows how to play the role and the one who knows how to play that role is Matic. He is the only one who can play that role.”
“Now whether you want to put Donny on the left and Bruno or Pogba you can mix it up. But if it was me I would have Matic on the left, Pogba on the left and Bruno on the right. ” according to report by ufabet
